ART TERRY, RA

SENIOR ARCHITECT

Art Terry, RA, is a Senior Architect, parametric specialist, and researcher at STORYN, known for his innovative approach and expertise in architectural design and urban systems. Art’s interest in architecture strives to contribute towards solutions in our built environment in ways that can be both functional and efficient as well as beautiful. His skills in parametric design and his studies at Harvard were focused on the intersection of large-scale architectural interventions in urban settings, covering geographical information systems, real estate finance, complex geometries, and urban development histories. His projects there included an infrastructural intervention in Midtown Manhattan and a housing development in Milan.

Born in Little Rock and raised in Baton Rouge, Art’s journey down the river led him to New Orleans for his education. He began his academic career at Tulane University, initially torn between his passions for architecture and art. Embracing both, he pursued a double major in architecture and printmaking. Eager to explore the world, Art moved to Beijing, where he immersed himself in new cultural experiences. His curiosity then brought him back to Louisiana, where he honed his love for cooking, perfecting his gumbo recipe while pursuing graduate studies at Harvard University Graduate School of Design.

After completing his studies, Art practiced in New York City, where he lived and worked for nine years, contributing significantly to the architectural landscape. Throughout his career, Art has developed a distinctive expertise in façade design and urban research. His professional journey includes notable stints at prestigious firms such as Studio Gang Architects, Trahan Architects, and MAD Architects. Beyond the office, Art is an avid swimmer, a voracious reader, and a culinary enthusiast, with a special fondness for hosting his annual summertime fried chicken and lemonade parties—a tradition he’s eager to revive in his new home.
